Life Hobbies

Hobbies are a great way to revitalize the mind and are proven to reduce stress.  Today, many hobbies are just a passion while others are transormed into part or even full time businesses.

Do you have an unusual or interesting hobby? Please share it with us and we might feature it right here on Time For Life!

Taking a passion to the next level

Part of creating “Time for Life” is doing what you love to do! We’ve all heard the saying “do what you love and love what you do” and it’s very powerful when applied.

We devote at least 8 hours each day to earning a living and those hours continue to increase. In addition, with the current economic conditions and the resulting layoffs there is less job security than ever before.

So what can be done to take back our time, increase financial security and improve our quality of life? There are dozens if not hundreds of books on how to create a business from a hobby etc.

They provide good information and suggestions but I prefer to provide real world examples of individuals that have taken a leap of faith and are enjoying their successes.

Ellen Dooley has been making these unique items out of the studio in her home for over 15 years. She enjoys the creativity that working from her studio brings. Her studio window looks out over the tall trees and fields and the abundant wildlife that frequents her property. Today she sells her unique creations online and enjoys the freedom of working for herself.

Here are some comments from Ellen’s website:

“I bought a torch before I ever made any lampwork beads… We live not far from the Pilchuck glass school . Some of the best glass artists in the country work in the NW corner of Washington State. But from the first time I saw one when visiting one of their studio open houses, I knew I wanted to make glass beads..so I bought a torch, took a class, and then practice, practice, practice! That was over fifteen years ago!
I am a full time beadmaker, making lampwork beads every day in my studio.” ellen
